Spring in Montreal's Botanical Gardens Looking at the trees behind the ogham and I've noticed a fascinating thing. It is generally known that birch (beth) is the first tree to show new growth in spring, hence (some of) its connotations with birth and beginnings and indeed the beginning of the ogham alphabet.
